NEW PRESS: "In the Shadow of the Black Sun" in American Photo

Black Sun Project in Nov/Dec 2012 American PHOTO My Black Sun Project is included in an article by John MahoneyIn the Shadow of the Black Sun, for this month's American PHOTO. The article is also viewable online here. Contemporary artists Chris McCawHans-Christian SchinkThodoris TzalavrasAmelia Konow are featured in the piece, along with the work of Ansel Adams and Joseph-Philibert Girault.

I showed Black Sun Project in Miami at the Bas Fisher Invitational in a 2008 solo show. It's nice to view the pieces included with other black suns to give it more context. Interesting to see how the works of these artists began around the same time.

New Work: Old Navy: The Fit for Fall Fashion Show for All in New York's Bryant Park

This fall I shot a great event for Old Navy / Cripsin Porter + Bogusky – Fit for Fall Fashion Show for All. Old Navy gave away hundreds of pairs of Rockstar Skinny Jeans to women of all shapes and sizes. Each participant found their their perfect fitting jeans and rocked them on a runway shaped like legs.

The event was hosted by Jenny McCarthy with music support from DJ Clockwork. Models Katrina Bowden, Padma Lakshmi and Selita Ebanks also walked the runway in Old Navy Rockstar Skinny Jeans. After all the fashion there was a big finale concert by The Backstreet Boys.

I documented the event for Old Navy as well as their newly created instagram account. Take a look at the my edit below.

TONIGHT: HURRICANE SANDY BENEFIT PHOTO PIN-UP SHOW!

I'm donating a print of the image above to tonight's Hurricane Sandy Photo Pin-up Show. I made this image when I was working on the Chain Project last year. It was taken in an area affected by hurricane Sandy at Plum Beach, a lovers beach with a sordid past.

This show is for a great cause. Please stop by with your cash and support!
