Opening tomorrow, Art and Culture Center of Hollywood: Abracadabra: Second Annual Fundraising Art Exhibition and Raffle

Tomorrow is the opening of Abracadabra: Second Annual Fundraising Art Exhibition and Raffle at the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood, FL. I have donated the image below at a special artist proof size - 6" wider then the final series size. This size print will not be editioned so this Artist Proof will be the only image at this larger size..

Unlike many other donations this raffle will be at the end of a longer exhibition of the collection of works. I hope to come down to FL soon to shoot on some images for my final Thesis project at school and hopefully I will be there in time for the show.

from the press release:
Opening reception: Thu., Jan. 22, 6 - 9 pm
Exhibition runs through Feb. 13, 2009
Raffle event: Fri., Feb. 13, 6 - 9 pm

Approximately 100 works in all media by outstanding South Florida artists and others are displayed for three weeks prior to being raffled off to ticket buyers at a wonderful soiree in the Center’s main gallery! Make plans now to preview these great artworks and attend this “fun” fund-raiser, where all raffle purchasers go home with a fantastic piece of art that might be worth thousands of dollars!

Our long national nightmare is finally over.

Obama took office today and there is a relief on people faces. I watched the Inauguration yesterday before class at home with a big cup of coffee. It was a great experience I wish I was able to go to DC but School was calling.

MSNBC is to my knowledge running the first news story using Microsoft's jaw-dropping technology, Photosynth. What better way to usher in the new President then with this cutting edge technology. I encourage everyone to hurry up an install Microsoft Silverlite and see what you've been missing.

On Photosynth's web site they have a more in depth look at the Inauguration from several vantage points. using Photosynth is like using the ultimate panoramic software but with a mush better depth perception. Photosynth stitches together many many images from different angles, viewpoints, cameras and focal lengths to bring a fascinating new experience.

I originally wrote about Photosynth at the end of this post.

on to the next...

So, here we are, 2009 space monkeys and flying cars and all. Its an exciting yet anxious year for me - finishing school and re-entering the working world at a time when people are suggesting our economy is tanking more then it ever has in my lifetime. So what do we do? celebrate? turn off the TV try to read the news a little less and hope Obama can jump start this economy with a full on Keynesian / New New Deal Plan.

On the bright side - there are no lines for bread and institutions like The Guggenheim are still very much alive and kicking out interesting events like the tomorrows-
